On 9 and June 10, 2016 the business exhibition for the FreeFrom Food market in Europe was held in Amsterdam. This year there were three lecture programs; one for the ‘general’ market on lactose free living and a special program for food bloggers. There was to much to do in to little time as allways!
There were also numerous booths with vendors from all over Europe, some came from even further. Our job was it to welcome the healthcare professionals at the entrance.
One of the products we wanted to test was the Saxon beer from Carlsberg. Paul from Glutenvrijemarkt.com had a large booth where the beer was promoted among other products. This beer comes higly recommend, lovely taste that will go well with a large audience!
A small disappointment was the mug-cake from FoodNess, Italy. They had a beautiful booth with great machines, among the had coffee, iced coffee, etc. They focus on supply to hospitality and catering industrie.
Next to the coffee machines they had a device with a mix for the Mug Cake. Great idea, tap a little dough in a cup, 40 seconds in the microwave and fresh cake with your order. I do not know if it is a product which would go well with the Dutch audience… Very sweet and not so much flavor, although their iced coffee was delicious.
The people of the easy sauces and soups from Noble International were there too. We have some of their products already in use, but now they had a new product, braai salt. First, it looked great, but the taste …. so yummy! Of course everything got tasted again and we recieved a test kit to take home to try on our own BBQ. That is – if the weather permits – happening this week!
At the booth of Nature Crops we could tast their instant soups with quinoa. Very nutritious, delicious hearty soups. Ready in an instant, just add boiling water to the contents of the packet, stir and ready to drink.
We often see products that make you think ‘I want to taste that!’ Then you read the label on the package and you get the feeling that you are a bit deceived. That feeling surfaced at this sugarless marshmallows. On the top of their poster: with stevia. That is true ofcourse, but it is the last ingredient on the packaging, maltitol and isomalt are the sweeteners. These are half as sweet as sugar and also provide half the calories. They were certainly very tasty and without allergens.
There were many more products available on the expo, these here mentioned are just a tip of the iceberg. On to Barcelona next year so we can taste more!
